This sewing thing, that is.
I use to watch my Mom sew, no interest in it myself. Then I had a baby and at the time there weren’t any of the stylish carriers that there are now. So I started sewing, and I’m rather anal, I practiced…the seam ripper and I were tight. I created a company, Metrosupial Designs with my creations.
Burn out occured. It’s just not that fun sewing the same thing again and again. Might be partically why Improv piecing is so addictive for me.
An author named Rena Grossman contacted me about a picture I took of a woman carrying her babe. Carry Me is her little board book. A little chapter of my own life in print.
Have a Great Weekend!
Thanks for sharing Katie. I love hearing how people started sewing. I’m with you on repetitive sewing. I think the minute you feel like you “have” to do something it’s not fun any more.
How cool – thanks for sharing…that must have been a treasured first sling – quite a project to start on!! I love your work – it always inspires me!
How wonderful to be featured in a book! Cool!
That’s pretty awesome 🙂 Lovely work too!
very very cool! There might be plenty of cool baby slings about these days, but yours are still the most beautiful…in my mind, at least!
So cool! What a wonderful feature!
Way to go, Katie. It’s always nice to see your daugher’s works in a book.
How great! Something you can keep for your grandkids.
That was fun to hear about your beginnings! That’s neat that one of your photos was featured in a book, too.
I hear you about the same thing all the time….
BUT! I really want one on those SLINGS!!! They are SO COOL! I love your colors and patterns…
but it seems to me the best thinga bout this sling is indeed the design…. almost… I can’t get over the fliker pics and all that awesome fabric….
SO – what are the chances of a pattern? you sold it to someone else? who are they? you have a few stashed away for begging soon to be mamas?
Let me know… cause it seems like the perfect thing….
everything you do I like….
that’s delightful….
Thanks!
I love that picture of you with your little babe. And how fun to hear about your beginnings…
And I must agree with Katy; your fabric combinations make for the *best* slings!
Oh what a neat book! Love the story of how you started to sew. It really does get to be burn out when you sew the same thing over & over again doesn’t it….
