February was the first month of stitching blocks for the Cottage Quilting Bee.
Darci of Stitches and Scissors sent some beautiful fabrics. I liked the mix of scale and colors. I also enjoyed working with fabulous fabrics that were not typically what I would purchase.
Meet the schizophrenic squares:
They’re not quite what I set out to do. I was originally inspired by this block.
I had to make two blocks for this process. The problem was, the fabric I had was not long enough to make continuous pieces as the blocks enlarged. So it became rather scrappy.
I would have had to add more scrappy bits to make it the 12.5 x 12.5 finished block. In my opinion it needed to be finished to size with the red/pink fabric all the way around, or the white/red print. Darci agreed to finish the blocks with her extra when she receives them. I look forward to seeing if this gives them a more controlled, cohesive look.
And some extra flannel in the mail for you Darci!
