Ok, I’ve had this every Thanksgiving of my life. For some God-Forsaken reason the original recipe also had a cup of sugar in it. I always left it out, and my mother told me the other day she doesn’t add it either… I’ll list it as optional. I like mine chunky, she smooths hers out in the food processor, you may choose. Don’t boil it with the Jello or use a fresh pineapple. It turns watery.
-12 ounces raw cranberries
-one cup sugar (optional)
-9 ounces orange jellow (packets)
-2 cans mandarin oranges (somewhat cut)
-1/ 8 ounce can crushed pineapple
-1 cup chopped walnuts
*Place cranberries in sauce pan and boil with canned juice from fruit, add enough water to make 2 cups total liquid. Boil till cranberries begin to pop. Remove from heat.
*Using a potato masher, somewhat crush the cranberries.
*Add jello and stir till dissolved.
*Add fruit and nuts.
*Stir and cool till set.
